Marilyn Manson- Tainted Love

Although Manson pretty much stole his look from Alice Cooper, you can’t really help but think of a man in tons of make up when you think of him. Creepy and sometimes almost beautiful, Manson made it okay for millions of kids to slap on the black lipstick and white face paint and show the world just how “scary” they could be. I just have to give props to the man though. Not only did he gain millions of fans all over the world by his “shocking” lyrics and antics, but he did it in an intelligent way and kept a very smart composer through it all. Really the man is a genius in stockings. This is a fantastic cover! Definitely the best cover of this song, cuz there are plenty of people that have just butchered it. I don’t think there is a better person to sing a song about tainted anything other than this twisted dude and his band of merry men!

MuDvAyNe – Under My Skin

Heres a band that IMO just should have kept on the damn makeup… Ever since they got rid of it, they just haven’t had their edge… And to Chad Grey, mascara and a fur coat does NOT count in the same league as the bad ass killer clown shit you used to wear… Bust out your overalls and your oil paints and write another LD50 instead of this nonsense you’ve been writing. It’s sad.
Anyway, rant over… Check out the rapping in this song, lol… “I”m superman motherfucker without the S on my chest” LOL… Lyrical brilliance? Maybe not… Awesome, hells yeah!!!

The Cure- Pictures of You

The original boys of goth and emo! There isn’t a person out there that can think of anything other than Robert Smith’s bright red lipstick and child drawn on eye make up look that he still rocks to this day. Not to mention the hair do that looks as if he just woke up and stuck his finger in the nearest electrical outlet. The Cure remains a great band even now and their music from the past will go down in history as some of the greatest and most melancholy music to come out of the 80′s. The make up just seems to fit Robert. If you think about it, you probably wouldn’t even recognize the man just walking down the street sans smeared make up and crazy hair. He could just be walking his dog and you’d probably walk right past him. That is as long as he wasn’t wearing some kind of heels or a dress like he tends to wear. I think it would be really awesome to see too! I wonder if he actually wears colors other than black? Some people were very smart to just stick to who they were and not try to roll with the changes and fit into whereever the world would take them like so many bands did. Just look at them now! They didn’t change a thing and now they fit right back into what is deemed “cool” again. Good thinking Robert! Good thinking!

Immortal – Blashyrkh

Just watch… Before the lyrics even start you will find more hair flips, scowels, and most importantly… Makeup… Than any video you’ve ever seen. Immortal will do one of two things, make you LOL or give you nightmares… Just so happens, they give me nightmares in which they are chasing me but I’m so busy laughing at their corpse-paint that i can’t run fast enough to get away… I don’t know what else to say other than here comes Joint’s next pick, and then watchout for my pick after that… Seriously…

Placebo- Ask for Answers

Brian Molko is definitely one of the prettiest men to grace the music scene in a long time! This man seems almost too comfortable in his perfectly applied eyeliner and lipstick matched with a nice dress and pretty shoes. They manage to look this ridiculous and still produce wonderful music! They sing about everything from drugs to heartache with an eerie passion that just rips through the soul. Even the ones about his gay love affairs. Brian Molko gay? No way!! LOL! It is great to live in an era where people can openly talk and sing about their sexuality and bring it onto the stage with them. Not that others from the past haven’t done the same, but it seems like a lot people were in denial as well!! Placebo owns up to everything that is already pretty obvious but they don’t waste time with making it the focal point of their music. This is one of my favorite songs by this fantastic band. I am a huge fan, if that hasn’t been made clear by now!

King Diamond – Welcome Home

Kiss- Detroit Rock City

Like I could make a guys in make up list without Kiss! That would be like me making a list of sexual positions and not including missionary! They are some of the original men in makeup and made it a huge part of their music and fan base. They have millions of fans that dress up and paint themselves up like their favorite member and walk around like they are the coolest people alive! This is a case of a band trying to just go with the flow of the times and took off their makeup later in their career. That proved to not be a very good idea considering the band’s popularity and album sales seemed to suffer immensely. Although they have made a comeback, in full makeup and costume of course, and are selling out arenas all over the world. I have never been a fan of this band, and I know that pisses a lot of people off. I do have to give them credit with how much money they have made off such a silly idea for a band look though. Who would have thought such a ridiculous idea would spawn such a hysteria? I guess that just goes to show that some people are more impressed by a gimmick rather than actual talent and song writing! Oh yeah, that’s gonna piss some people off I’m sure! But, this is my opinion so guess who cares? Not me!!

ABK – Warrior

Damn, Joint is on her broom today and flying low, eh? OUCH OUCH SHE’S BURNING ME! MY BRAAAAIIINNNN!!!!!! I TAKE IT BACK I TAKE IT BACK!!! woo… damn son, didn’t know women could do THAT.
Anyway, onto my next song… ABK, the native american rapper with a funny lisp. I don’t really care though cause this song is funky as SHIT.

Thats just awesome… Not that we condone drug use (i guess, LOL)… It’s just funny Not to mention, he’s a damned nativ american rapper… Reppin the indian culture!!!! woohoo!!!

30 Seconds to Mars- From Yesterday

The pretty boy from My So-Called Life grew up to become such a prettier man. Going with the emo trend, Jared Leto and bandmates probably wear more guyliner in a day than I do in a month. But boy it just makes their eyes pop doesn’t it? Okay that was supposed to be sarcastic, but as usual it’s so hard to get that out in typing! I was a pretty big fan of this band, and even liked The Kill before I knew it was Jared Leto in the band. However after meeting him and seeing him lately and discovering what an asshole prima donna he has become I really have a hard time respecting them now. I did have to laugh when my sister called him a fag though. It was just downright entertaining. If you are going to be an actor-turned musician you should expect and appreciate your fans in all aspects! Making a comment about how great the show was follwed by a comment about a movie he made shouldn’t have been a slap in his purposely smudged eyeliner face! Face Mr. Leto, if it weren’t for those movies you wouldn’t be even close to half as popular as you are right now! Appreciation should go both ways. And, excersing my right to opinion in my own blog, I think he was a far better actor. I do think he has a great voice and they do make decent music, but to give up completely on acting would be a huge mistake on his part!

Cold War Kids- Hang Me Up to Dry

The title of this one almost says it all. There are some relationships that you get into that you continue to torture yourself with until you just can’t take it anymore! This song is all about that kind of thing and the feelings that come with the frustration of it. A slight throw back to the seventies, this song has a very nostalgic feel that I really love. The voice and the chorus are just downright contagious to me! I had never even heard of this band before, just happened to catch it on internet radio one day and I was instantly hooked. I have been in one too many relationships that have made me relate to this song all too well. When he wails about that former lover and how they have “wrung me out too, too, too many times” I am right there with him! Makes me feel a little sad, but empowered at the same time because it’s not an ultra depressing song. It has a point, and that point is that it is over and it needed to be over and it is time to move on! If only real life was like this!!

Thursday – Signals Over the Air

A personal song of mine, Thursday kinda runs the gammut from emo to emo as hell… While not a very diverse band, they are GREAT at what they do. From the honest and poetic lyrics to the masterful guitar work, just a great band all around. This song is no exception… Keeping with the seemingly relationship specific lyrics yet still that same car accident theme carried on from songs like Cross out the Eyes and Understanding in a Car Crash, it’s a great metaphor to think of a failed relationship… From the sudden deep inhale of that “oh shit” moment when you see the headlights in your lane or see that things aren’t savable in your relationship… To that moment of impact where you’re flung against the dashboard or everything with your “other half” comes crashing down at once and all the wind remaining in your lungs is knocked out of you… To those moments afterward where you’re just laying in the wreckage wondering if you’ll ever make it out… Shattered Glass, broken lives and mascara gets washed away by windshield wiper blades…. Just a great song to wallow in your failures to, or when the chorus hits it’s a great song to yell the lyrics as loud as you can “when you say my name, i wanna split it from your lips and hide like whispers in the rain”… Enjoy it or don’t.

Energy to Try- Justin Furstenfeld

This ranks right up there as one of my favorite songs of all time. Justin from Blue October has done a few songs solo that I wish like hell would show up on one of their CDs because they are fantastic! This is definitely one of them. It makes me tear up every damn time. There is just something about the way this man sings that would make a stone statue squirt a few. If you don’t feel something after hearing this one I really don’t know what in the hell is wrong with you! Another intensely relatable song to me, this one talks about how sometimes you just have to give up on love, even when you don’t want to. It is very possible to just run out of energy to do so with some people because it seems as if all of your efforts are pointless. Justin and a guitar, that is all he needs. That is what I call talent. What I wouldn’t have given to have been able to be at this show! I would have given one of Diddle’s testicles for sure!! LOL! I’m sure he would have given it to me too, cuz otherwise he’d just wake up in some dirty hotel room in a bathtub full of ice with it missing anyways!

Atreyu – The Crimson

First of all… Leave my balls outta this, Joint… They did nothing to harm you!
That being said… I would give one of Joint’s tits to see these guys live… Another great song for relationship failure, not because it’s great to wallow in all day… But more along the lines of it great to imagine the fact that your girl fucked up and NOW YOU’RE A VAMPIRE!!!!!! Seriously…. That is what this song is about… I’m not joking…

Honest to God lyric from this song. I need not say more… Go find the lyrics and laugh along with me… and if you’ve recently had a woman treat you wrong, listen to this shit and imagine eating her??? I guess???

Rehab- Rhianna

I’m not usually a fan of pop music or any kind of bubblegum type songs, but this one really caught me off guard. I get made fun of for being a fan, but I really couldn’t give a shit! The lyrics to this song remind me so much of my last ex and the way things ended between us and they way that I felt that it almost makes me cry. Rhianna does have a really pretty voice in this song as well and I catch myself singing with it a lot. Although this song kinda makes me feel like walking into traffic on my bad days, it is just great in reminding me why I am single. It seems like a lot of relationships start off like the two people involved are best friends and things are perfect, but when things start to go sour it can be impossible to leave because love really can feel like a drug. A really good, but really bad drug. Kind of like I imagine heroin would be like, not that I ever intend on finding out. I’ll just listen to this song to get the same effect! Cuz, as I have said before, me and D just don’t support drug use!! LOL!!!!!!!!!! Drugs are bad mmmmkay??

Chameleon Boy – Blue October

Intensely personal, like most Blue October songs are… Although this one, Justin admits is about substance abuse it’s easy to translate into a relationship failure son, especially if you manage to relate both relationship failure and substance abuse in the same breath… So curl up with your old photo album, get under a blanket DONT FORGET THE KLEENEX and have yourself a good cry while thinking about that girl you managed to let slip away when you knew she was the one… Then after that, get your pansy ass up and go do something about it! You can’t cry all your life, wussy. GOGOGOGOGO

Something I Can Never Have- Nine Inch Nails

This just might be the definitive relationship failure song. Quite possibly one of the most depressing songs I’ve ever heard as well. I freakin love Trent Reznor and this song just evokes failure and loss. Reznor’s eventual downright screaming about something he can never have just breaks me down. Makes me feel like I am in the same spot, whether I am single or not, and feel like the biggest failure in all the world. This is one to listen to alone, unless you are comfortable crying in front of people. Or condensating as Diddle likes to put it! It is pretty funny how someone as hardcore as Trent can turn into such a sniveling pussy in a matter of minutes though! I do love the sensitivity he shows which proves he might just be a human instead of a god. Who would have thought?

Saves the Day – Through Being Cool

Okay, so some of my relationship failure songs are more funny than anything… But good lord, Joint is the MASTER of sad music, and after listening to her songs I kinda wanna eat a lighbulb or something… So heres a cool RF song for ya… It’s a little sophmoric, and again kinda emo, but at the same time, if you’ve ever lost a girl to a dude named Nick, this shit is for you, son. Just listen to the opening line, lol… It’s awesome… and the part “Niiiiiick why are you such a prick?”… Also hilariously awesome… Just sit back and have some fun here cause that’s a big part of getting over whatever person screwed you over to begin with… Just enjoy yourself.

Mexico- Incubus

A song that goes out to all of the selfish assholes everywhere! Seems like far too many men and women take their lovers for granted and just treat them like total shit. I love this song because even though it is sad, it is still a big “fuck you” to all of the people who take others for granted. It points out all of the flaws that these people constantly show in a light everyone can see. Brandon Boyd’s voice is angelic as usual in this acoustic great. Another great song that only really needs a man and a guitar but still manages to say more than enough. So many lines in this song hit too close to home with me being a victim of far too many men overlooking my actual greatness. And yeah, I am bold enough to say I’m great! I am also bold enough to not give a shit what anyone else thinks either! However I still manage to feel unfortunately and this song makes me feel more than I’d like most days!

Placebo- Meds

An ode to prescription drugs! I have felt this way far too often, although I don’t think it’s ever been to the point where the video goes! That is a little Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and that is just too much. I have had people ask me if I’ve forgotten to take my meds plenty of times though! It’s not only about medication, it’s about messed up relationships and sex and all the complications in life that require some of us to have to take this “medicine”. Personally, I’d rather roll up a fattie, but the government says that it’s “bad” to do so, and stick us all with these addicting and mind altering drugs instead. The pharmaceutical companies are either assholes or geniuses. Probably a good mixture of both. This song makes me remember just why I started taking it all in the first place!

Mudvayne – Pharmaecopia

Seriously, if you can understand what Chad Grey is singing in this song, and you KNOW what all of it is… Lay off a bit, friend. The entire verses of this song are comprised of names of drugs, prescription, NOT prescription, and some shit even I haven’t heard of. Either way, tell me the chorus dosen’t sound pretty bad ass… Headless prison? Cannibals chew to consume you? Man… Take a break from the drugs, Chad… Wait a second, you mean to tell me that the Mudvayne songs they’re playing on the radio are ACTUALLY Mudvayne and not some sick joke? GET BACK ON THE DRUGS CHAD! PLEEEEASE!!!!
Regardless of Mudvaynes inherant suckiness now days, sit back and indulge in your favorite drug (cause frankly I can’t stop you anyway) and look at the pretty colors. Just before the DEMON OF METAL busts through your speakers and steals your musical soul!

D12 ft. Eminem- Purple Pills

Another song that boasts about the greatness of pills! Of course, if you know the kind of pills they are talking about then you’re messing around with the illegal kind! So many drug references that makes you realize that if you actually know what he is talking about then you have either used or been around people that have! Mushroom mountain definitely isn’t a vacation location! Even though the way he talks about it, it seems like it could be an awesome place to visit! Just not very often! I can feel my brain cells actually dying listening to this song. It’s so silly, but all so true at the same time!

Third Eye – TOOL


Good lord… From the beginning of the track with the MASTERFULL Bill Hicks explaining the good things drugs have done for the world (music being the main asset) into the insane atmospherics and then right into the loud-to-near dead silent song itself. This is serious fuckin business man… And a LONG track at that. So long in fact that YES It’s two whole freakin videos. Still, just sit back and listen to this shit… It’s amazing and one of the PRIMARY examples I point out when someone asks why I love TOOL. Yeah, that’s right, I’m a huge fan… And NOT just because it looks cool to scribble the Penis-Wrench all over my notebooks when I was in highschool (although, to be honest, it really was). Sit back and enjoy this one people, it’s not very often you catcha great prog metal EPIC such as this one… Not to mention one that is solid PROOF that if you understand what it means, you should lay off WHATEVER mind altering substances you’re rockin’ now days.

Third Eye Blind- Semi-Charmed Life

This is one of those songs that sound so happy that you tend to not really pay attention to the lyrics. An excellent song all about the ups and downs of crystal meth, but you have to really listen closely to catch it all! You may just get too lost in the upbeat melody and irresistable “do do do’s” going on. He blantantly declares that he’s doing crystal meth in the song though! Maybe you’ve had to have used the drug to be that in tune with the world, but I doubt it. My radar just happened to go off when I heard those words! Doesn’t mean I was sitting in a corner thinking bugs were crawling all over me in some dirty ass hotel room! Pay attention to what Stephen Jenkins is talking about, and this happy tune might actually turn depressing.

This Place Is a Prison- The Postal Service

This is yet another song that makes you pay attention to catch the drug references, but they are undeniable! “Inhaling thrills through twenty dollar bills” can’t be about much else, or maybe that is just a misunderstanding on my part! I doubt it, I’m rarely wrong! Ask Diddle, and I guarantee he’ll agree. Maybe that is because he values his junk, but he will agree regardless! Anyways, this is a great song by a great band that doesn’t get half the attention they deserve. One of my top five favorite bands! A drug referenced song that will depress you like the good ones should, but will make you fall in love with the song at the same time!

Peephole – System of a Down

I do vaule my junk, that’s for sure.
Anyway, on to the song, lol. Gimme a break, if you can’t tell that this song is about drug use then you’re retarded. Period. No offense to those who are slow or anything, but for the love of God! He even says “when you’re high” in the song! It’s getting harder and harder to write about these songs cause they’re just so blatantly obvious in some cases!
Just heed the warning from Serj Tankian here… For the love of God don’t you ever get stuck in the sky when you’re high… That would be a shame… But hell, while you’re up there, sit back and chill and listen to this freaky circus music sounding jam from Serj and Darron and the crew from their first album… The go out and just pick up the album. It’s fantastic.

The Doors- The End

This one might not necessarily be about drugs, but it is pretty damn apparent that Jim Morrison had to have been on some kind of hallucinogen to write some of the lyrics to this! Anyone talking about wanting to fuck their mother and kill their family members is hopefully taking some kind of drug and not just incredibly insane! Jim did seem to be a little of both though. Not to mention the fact that you almost have to be on drugs to finish the whole song because it is so damn long and makes you feel high without touching anything! A great classic that people still can’t stop talking about!

Cocaine – Eric Clapton

Shit, son… The damn song title is “Cocaine”… It’s all about… Take a guess…….. WHAT?! PUPPIES?!? ARE YOU INSANE??? No, it’s about COCAINE! I know, novel idea, eh? Shit I woulda never guessed. Look, this is obvious why it’s about drugs, so instead of writing about the song and explaining in detail why it’s about drugs and insulting your intellegence… I’m going to write a bit about the ring-tailed lemur..

It is unfortunate for this girl that she made that career ending decision to tear up the picture of the pope. Sinead has a beautiful voice and this song made me feel like love was absolutely torturous. Surprisingly written by Prince, this song is so different than most things that he has done. This was the only mainstream hit that she produced. The shaven head might have had something to do with it, maybe people just weren’t ready for a popular nazi, especially after the pope incident. She may have well pissed on the American flag! Too bad for her, because with a voice like that she could have gone far!

DIDDLE:
Possum Kingdom – Toadies

C’mon, sing along with it. I’m sure you know it folks, just let it out! My first entry to this list is an instant classic! Possum Kingdom by Toadies. One of the most recognizable opening guitar riffs of all time. That simple E chord followed by the A chord repeating in such an odd time signature is sure to get your head bobbing. From what I understand it’s a shame these guys are one hit wonders cause I hear they’re a great band, but if you’re going to have simply one hit you might as well make it as catchy, well written, and goddamn creepy as this ong. I mean, how many songs do you hear on the radio throughout the day with lyrics like “Do you wanna diiiieeeee”? Not alot, I’m assuming. Unless you live in Baghdad… That joke was off color, I know. Deal with it.

Ice Ice Baby- Vanilla Ice

This may have been Vanilla Ice’s only hit, but just try to lie and say you don’t know every word! This is just one of those songs that everyone knows but is ashamed to admit it. I’m not embarrassed to say that I was a huge fan when it came out and still sing along everytime I hear it! Although he denies stealing the riff from Under Pressure, there is no denying that it’s the same catchy tune. Too bad he hadn’t been famous in these days because sampling is just like anorexia in modeling now. The heavy metal version he released a few years back was entertaining, but got nowhere near the airplay that this song got! This goes down as one of the greatest one hit wonders ever because it will never be forgotten!

DIDDLE:
Hate it or Love it – the Game

you couldn’t make a left turn or switch on teh radio a few years ago without hearing this song. The smooth beat with “Fiddy” and The Game spittin their lyrics weaving in and out of the beat… It’s one of the most well put together recent mainstream hip hop songs. The shame of this song is the story behind it… With 50 Cent discovering The Game and bringing him to the mainstream, then saying on a radio station that he “created” The Game starting a giant feud between the two artists that without a doubt cause The Game to never really have another hit as big as this one. The Game had talent, and the closest he came to having a hit again was the song “Dream” which while it was a success, it was nowhere NEAR the success of this song. the Game, another victem to the harsh world of mainstream music and the public’s ever present love for the less talented yet more marketable “artists”.

Blind Melon- No Rain

An unfortunate one hit from a talented band. No Rain is probably best known for the little bee girl in the video, but the song was fantastic! Who knows if Blind Melon could have gone farther without the demise of lead singer Shannon Hoon, but at least this song will go down in history. A catchy, hippie tune that makes you do a rain dance, this song is feel good all over! I feel good everytime I see the video because I get to see the gorgeous Shannon before he hit his heroin days. Another tragedy in music with drugs killing off what could have been an incredible band. There are plenty of good songs from this band though, so if you haven’t heard much from them go and listen! I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Informer – Snow

White… Canadian… Jamaican style rap… Legend.
These four words are the best I can use to describe this masterpiece by Canadian white boy, Snow. Honestly, Even after watching the video provided I still don’t know a goddamn word this dude is saying. But I insist he’s saying something about Taco Bell in the chorus. If you’d like to sing the rest of the song with him, I’ll tell you exactly how to do it.
Step 1: Extend your index finger while keeping the other four fingers tucked into your hand, as if you’re saying “I’m number one!”
Step 2: Turn your had sideways as if you’re pointing to the invisible person next to you.
Step 3: Lift your finger to your lips and press it firmly between them.
Step 4: Seperate your lips just slightly and make a humming noise
Step 5: Wiggle your fingers in an “up and down” motion until desired effect is reached.
Step 6: ?????
Step 7: PROFIT!

Faith No More- Epic

Shockingly this is the only hit that Faith No More came out with! A shock because of Mike Patton’s pure genius that is forgotten by the ordeal with the fish in the video more than likely. Stil a great song, but far from their best work! Seems that a lot of bands suffer this same fate. They have one song everyone loves that is only mediocre compared to what they actually make. Another song that makes you want to sing every word, if you’re hip enough to know them all! A heavy song with a little white boy rap thrown in. I love this song and I love this band! Skee Lo – I Wish

1995. Toy Story was raging the charts as the top grossing movie of the year, followed by Batman Forever, and Pocahontas. Coolio, TLC, and Seal (with a song from the aformentioned Batman movie) were at the top of the charts… And men all over the world were sitting in their room, alone, wishing. Not like Martin Luther King Jr. No, we weren’t wishing for world peace and racial equality. We WERE however wishing for important things. For example, some of us were wishing we were nearly 7 foot tall. Others of us were wishing we had a girl to call. While others were wishing for things of MASSIVE importance, such as rabbits, in hats, with bats. Who was OUR voice you might ask? Well, the rabbit in hat with bat wishers were without a voice in 1995 untill a tiny young man brought our opinions to the public. That young man’s name was Skee Lo. And he wished for all of us. I still continue to love this song. It’s my own personal variation on the classic “We Shall Overcome” song from the civil rights movement. Ladies and gentleman, if YOU wish you had a rabbit…. In a hat… With a bat… Stand up and let your voices be heard! Fight the power! Unless they’re taller than you… Then just back away cause they’ll probably throw you, and that shit isn’t funny.

Devo- Whip It

Who doesn’t secretly love this song? It has been used in everything and commercialized horribly which makes it impossible to get out of your head. A great 80′s classic that is never going away! A bubbly little tune with lyrics that are a slight mystery. The video is hilarious and made it cool to wear red plastic flower pots on your head! At least that is what I was told the Halloween that me and some friends wore flower pots on our heads to emmulate “pot heads” but were confused with Devo all night. As soon as this song kicks off you know what it is! That makes it a hit that is wonderful!

Regulators – Warren G Feat. Nate Dogg

Whistle it… FUCKING DO IT! There ya go… Man, everyone knows this song. Hell, my grandma knows this damn song. Try listening to this jam without turning your hat backward and unbuttoning your too-long-for-your-torso plaid shirt. This is the most gangsta song EVER. Just the beat and the smooth singing of Nate Dogg combined with that funky-ass voice of Warren G. I’m white as they get, but I’ll be damned if I don’t wanna just “let my gat explode” after bumpin this shit, son. I’m still not sure what the hell G-Funk is supposed to mean… And 213 just sounds to me like someone can’t count properly. But it just sounds so damn silky smooth that I can’t help but love it. then again, I think Nate Dogg could simply fart on a record and it would sound like a call to all gangstas to “lay all them busters down”…
Now that being said… Listen to the lyrics and then just take them out of context for a second. Just take any random line from that song and repeat it… Tell me it dosen’t sound gay as hell. “I laid all the busters down”… “Now I’m switching my mind back into freak mode”… “One in the hole”… “Nate Dogg and Warren G had to Regulate”… Gay gay gay.
Now I’m not going to blame this fact for the lack of followup Warren G songs in the upper deck of music… And Warren G wasn’t a total failure, he did have some mildly successfull songs such as “I Want it All”. I’m just sayin’…

On a personal note from Joint and myself, to everyone that’s reading this blog and keeping us afloat, thank you so much. We’re having fun doing this and we hope like hell you’re having fun reading it. Posting this blog involves much more work than most would know. Hell, here it is… 3am on a Wednesday morning, and instead of sleeping, I’m typing about how unintentionally gay the song “Regulators” is. So we work hard for you folks, and we appreciate what we see when we check the blog stats and see that our voiews are looking good. so Thank you.
And to those of you who insist I look like a “jackass who hates people who don’t like the same kind of music I do”… All I can say is that when you want to find the bad in something, you’ll find it. No matter how wrong you are. We all have different opinions and we all are entitled to them. None are right, and we know that. Our goal with this blog is to try and introduce different music to some people who wouldn’t usually listen to these styles. We keep a good sense of humor about ourselves and the music we listen to (except Joint and her Radiohead… Jeeze, you make one suggestion that Radiohead was a one hit wonder and she eats your face…. Seriously… I’m still bleeding… Don’t do it). In all seriousness, we’re here to entertain and enlighten, if you don’t like what we have to say, then feel free to let us know. Oh Nickelback, they always make such great songs to make fun of. If you’re a fan, I’m sorry but I really just can’t stand these guys! They continually make crap that everyone just loves for some reason! This song is a perfect example. I know there are girls just driving around in their cars singing their little hearts out to this one, and not even realizing how stupid they look by doing so! Seriously, something in your mouth? Do they not get what they are talking about? Guess some girls just like to look like stupid sluts! Every lyric in this song just screams drunk slut! If you’re a girl and sing along to this song, please go to the back of the line because you are bringing us all down! This song makes me feel literally ill and I cannot believe it’s a hit single! But, I’m sure it’s a favorite at your local strip club!

Picture this… You’re at a dark club with your girlfriend and her cousin. You’ve had a few drinks so whatever. This song comes on and next thing you know your girl is GONE! Where do you find her? How about rubbing against the naughty parts of some random ass dude in the middle of the dance floor? What do you call that? A drunk slut is what I call it. So this song makes the list. I mean, it’s a song ABOUT drunk sluts! Still though, you can’t help but love Luda’s verse in this damn song. I mean “Stop, drop KABOOM. Rub on your nipples” I’m pretty sure this song isn’t about his nanny or being in a committed relationship. This song is about meeting up with some drunk sluts at a hotel and gettin it ON! So that in mind… This song fits perfectly!

This is a song I’ve heard in the club far too often and think it’s just a little hilarious! The radio version made it seem almost sweet, even though you still knew he was talking about a stripper, there was still a little hope that he might have actually found love in the strip club. But no, he just wants to fuck, like so many other men in the club. This gets to playing and suddenly every girl in the club thinks they are suddenly way hotter than they really are and that every man is falling in love with them. I must admit, I do like this song, but not because of the message! I’m just a Snoop fan! But anytime I hear it I already know that I shouldn’t be singing along. Maybe, just maybe in the privacy of my own home for that special someone, but that is just a maybe! You have to love the honesty of the song though because there is no denying what it’s all about.

Here it is… If you’re a lonely guy and you’re chillin at a club and you’re looking to get laid TONIGHT… Just wait till they bump this damn song. From the “YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH” that kicks this song off all the way to the VULGAR chorus and subject matter. This jam gets the women on the dancefloor and rubbing against anything and everything in sight every time! I mean, the whole damn song is just about insane places to have sex, if that dosen’t turn a woman on when she’s drunk then maybe you’ve got the wrong kinda “slut” ya know? Maybe she’s just not a slut? Either way, you’re ass ain’t gettin laid, so give it up sucker!

I guess it does happen, but I doubt it works out too often! Guess even strippers need a theme song! This is the ultimate choice for the girls that work the pole for that money!

Nothing sexier than a girl singing about how she likes to get her crack licked. A great bump and grind song for the clubs for all the drunken girls to act even sluttier than they already are! This song really makes me want to go take a shower and wash away the filth. I can’t help but listen to it and laugh though! I really can’t believe it ever hit the radio stations! I guess censorship only goes so far, even if you know exactly what the person is talking about. I knew what she was saying the first time I heard it, I was just hoping for the sake of humanity that I was wrong, but I wasn’t. When you want to live out that complete dirty slut act, just throw this song on and stick your ass in someones face. You’re bound to get a reaction in one way or the other!

Okay… This was my shit back during my freshmen year in highschool, son. I don’t even care! Cash Money Millionaires were bad motherfucker! And before Lil Wayne was ruining our youth by making the critics think he’s got some kind of skill while rapping about licking lollipops, he was nothing more than the guy who shouted out the hook to the Millionaires songs. For example, does Juvenile think Wayne has the skill to preform a verse on his album? Hell no, he gives it to the mildly retarded seeming Manny Fresh… What’s Wayne get? “drop it like its hot drop drop it like it’s hot” etc etc etc.
Anyway, aside from my hatred for Wayne, this song actually makes ME wanna get up and be a drunk slut! Seriously, this is the jam, son! And if this dosen’t get the women backin it up in the clubs then theres somethin wrong with this world. Seriously.

Another song that sounded much more decent on the radio, but just so blatantly horrible when you hear the actual lyrics! No room for imagination with this one, and it has girls everywhere drunkingly groping men at bars all over the country! I can see why they whisper the whole song! I’m sure their mothers are proud! Another song that I am kind of a fan of, but more for the addicting background music that makes me want to dance unvoluntarily everytime I hear it! Just can’t help it! However, I am laughing at the whole idea of the song while I’m doing it! How could any guy win a girl over with a song like this? Are women really that pathetic? I sure hope not! A great song for the making of a mistaken one night stand, but I seriously doubt will ever be a classic!

It really does make me want him to prove he means what he’s saying, if you know what I’m saying!! I mean, the beat, the synth the smooth singing by T-Boz, Left Eye and Chili (yeah I know their names by memory, so what?!?)… I mean, goddamn son… Back in the day I woulda put the pounding to these chicks. That may be a bit unnerving considering Left Eye passed away a few years ago, but that dosen’t mean my young and developing libido wasn’t RAGING when this song came out. I’ve done the dirty to this song many many times and it’s always just a great song for that. And I don’t mean that hard bumpin kinda dirty, this song is awesome for that slow and gentle kinda bumpin’ uglies. I’m listening to the song right now as we speak and honestly, I’m hating the fact that I’m here alone tonight! Might need a cold shower after this!!!!

The first thing I thought of when I heard this song was that it was probably the sexiest song I had ever heard. I think it’s kind of funny considering the song is all about cheating and heartache, but listening to it makes you just want to forgive and forget and have that dirty make up sex we all love so much! There is something about Justin’s voice that makes me feel like a little school girl and when he is repeating that I come in closer, I really want to! This song has a lot of personal meaning to it, but I know I can’t be the only one that finds it sexy! With the awesome rhythm and beautiful lyrics this song is sure to bring the sexy out in all of us angsty people!!

Venturing away a bit from the smooth R&B slag in my first song, heres a song that most probably wouldn’t add to this list… I, on the other hand, have done the dirty to many a song… Including Stabbing Westward and Deftones… So Tom Waits’ Big in Japan isn’t really a far cry from the norm when it comes to me. Just listen to the beat of this song, it’s a great rythem song! You get your rythem down and immerse yourself in the song and the moment and you’ll feel like a fucking SUPER PIMP! Hell, you’re big in Japan, son! This isn’t exactly a great song to get a person “in the mood” cause it’s just so… odd… But when you’re gettin it on already, oh yes… Just give it a try. Trust!

This has to be the most obvious song choice in the world! Not only does Trent scream that he wants to fuck like an animal, but he makes it very apparent that he is a freak in the sack as well. Again, maybe that is only me that finds that sexy, but I seriously doubt that! Have you ever seen this man? I would absolutely let him violate me! There are so many sexual statements in this song that it makes it damn near impossible to think of anything else while listening to it! Go ahead and try! I dare you! And if you accomplish that then I seriously question if you have a libido at all!!

Ignore the lyrics if you must… Again, I’m a beat guy… I like getting my rythem going and rockin it. And this is a strictly rythem song. If you listen to the lyrics then you’ll probably pull from it what most people do… A song about leading a girl into a bathtub and tossing her a radio/toaster/whatever. But if you ignore that, take the words at face value, and just dig on the music this is a sexy ass song. Again, kinda like my Tom Waits submission, it’s not really a song that makes a lonely person wanna grab a bottle of cocoa butter and some napkins, but if you’re rockin the casbah already, this song works like you wouldn’t know! And the point at about 3:00 where the guitar screaches and the song kicks back in… It’s a great place to just throw yourself into it and hope you never come back… And that’s how this song is. You listen to it and get lost… And what better time to get lost than when you’re getting in on?

A great song that isn’t all about sex necessarily, but has it’s moments for sure. It’s more about two people going on a first date and being nervous but then realizing how much they want to do it. So, to me that is so hot because we have all been there before! And, again, I’m just the kind of girl that would find it incredibly hot for a guy to grab me by the hair and have them tell me that they want to fucking tear me apart! Well, some cuz that could be really scary for other guys! I’m not into murders or serial killers or anything! Plus, this song has a catchy beat and chorus that you just have to sing along to and dance, even if it’s just the side to side goth dance.

Smooth lyricals, a great beat, and lyrics that don’t really fit the theme for some reason… You seeing a pattern here? I mean, when my ex sent me this song and said it was kinda “our song” and i listened to it I thought “hell yeah, this shit is sexy as hell!” Then when she left me and I listened to it again it was one of those “OOOOHHHH… I think she was trying to tell me something!” moments. That aside (and the ex shall remain nameless HAHAHA) this song just feels sexy. It’s less about the lyrics, it’s less about the meaning… It’s just about that atmosphere… Give it a listen folks. And then don’t forget to wear protection. Unless you’er actually trying to make babies!

For anyone that’s ever gotten busy in a car you know how sexy this song can be! I mean, who hasn’t? WIth both of these voices growling and whispering about going and going again who can not get a little turned on? I am also a fan of just driving around listening to this song speeding, but that is completely off topic. It took me awhile to realize that this song was sexual, but if you listen to the lyrics it’s that dark secret underlying the whole thing and that makes it even hotter. I was told tonight by someone that it was a song about a guy giving another guy a blowjob in a car, so who knows? A little sex in the car, no matter what kind, is always fun!

Young Lust – Pink Floyd

Guys, correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t we all need a dirty woman sometimes? And I mean dirty as in She’ll rock them socks off, not dirty as in burns when I pee… Lord no man needs a woman that is THAT kind of dirty. Honestly though, to keep with a theme here, I’m alone right now, it’s 2:30am, and I definately need myself a dirty woman! I have a soft spot for this song because the movie was just fantastic! This is the song Will Farrell swoons Maggie Gylenhall with in Stranger Than Fiction. I know this is an old song, but I had never heard it till I discovered this fantastic flick. If you haven’t seen it, do. You might just get a new appreciation for life, maybe. I am talking to a bunch of internet people so who knows what you all appreciate anyways! Although, if you are reading this blog I appreciate that greatly! Alright, enough appreciation already!! A nice, gritty song that would have any girl falling for a guy that sang it to her! Well maybe not any girl, but me for sure! A girl that loves a good punk love song! Give it a listen, learn to play it, and maybe you can nab yourself a hottie like Maggie too!

How could I not put together a list of soundtrack songs without the perinnial soundtrack song in my eyes? The cleverly named theme for the movie Pi by Darrin Aronofsky Pi r^2 (Pie Are Square… Get it?) is not only a great, adrenaline pumping song to get your blood moving for a great movie, but it’s just a fantastic house song in general. With it’s pumping drum running throughought 99% or the song and that synth line played over and over again, you can almost feel yourself growing just as insane as the man the film is about does throughout the movie. And he dosen’t exactly start off as sane… So take that for what you will……. You crazy bastards.

Radiohead – Talk Show Host

One of my all time favorite Radiohead songs! Yeah, you had to know this was coming! This song was featured in the remake of Romeo and Juliet, a great spin on an old classic movie. I was a big fan of this movie, although I knew plenty of people that hated it, but luckily this isn’t a movie blog so I could care less! Thom’s voice just melts me and in this song he just yearns to be heard! This song makes me want to give Thom a big ol’ hug and tell him that I am there for him. Among other things, but we’ll save that part for my dreams! The song also makes me want a sandwich. A big sexy Thom and Joint sandwich!! Woo hoo!! Whoa, I got a little distracted. This track will have you floating in an all around goodness haze. It might also have you questioning if you should bring a gun to your next love fest. I wouldn’t personally recommend it, but I’m not a total freak. Plus, we here at randomactsofmusic are so against violence! LOL!

I’m not really sure exactly how this fits into the film it’s in (The Prestige), but I’ll be damned if I didn’t squeal like a girl when I heard it druing the final credits of said film. With Thom Yorke’s rich voice flowing seamlessly, weaving through the drum beat and nearly frantic piano, this song is nearly the perfect song for somone who is a fan of the style of music that Kraftwerk is mostly credited with creating. Just give the song a listen and get lost in audio marijuana… Just be carefull, cause I hear audio marijuana could lead to other forms of audio drugs… Audio speed (Megadeath), audio LSD (Primus), and maybe even audio crack (Whitney Houston)… Remember kids, crack is a poor person’s drug… Crack is whack.

A great soundtrack song that doesn’t even have lyrics! Lux Aeterna by Clint Mansell is a instrumental orgasm from the masterpiece movie Requiem for a Dream. This song has been used for a lot of adds and even sampled by people such as Lil Jon, but it still reminds me that heroin might not be as glamorous as some make it seem. Okay, that sounded really lame cuz I am pretty sure any drug that you inject into your veins and makes you a drooling moron couldn’t be too glamorous at all. However, this beautiful collection of strings can put me into the greatest or worst mood. I can loop it for the night and fall asleep and have wonderful dreams of pills and violins dancing in my head. I have to give kudos to a song with no lyrics, cuz for a girl like me that is a great accomplishment! I usually need those lyrics and singing to keep me entertained, but I can just sit in peace and think of my own little world lost in this incredible song!

when I heard that while watching Fight Club, I’m not gonna lie, I peed myself… Literally. I’m not joking. As a matter of fact, I kept the pants I was wearing as a reminder. Don’t tell my girlfriend that though….. Wait… Nevermind, I’m single. So ladies, if you’re into urine, gimme a call…. Well, now that THAT awkwardness is out of the way, let’s actually talk about the song, eh? What more needs to be said? Scientists have prooven that there is truly no way to know what the hell Frank Black is singing about in this song. But I dare you to listen to it without humming Kim Deal’s “ooooooooooooooo” part out loud. It’s not possible. Go ahead… Try it… HA! Caught ya! Nice try though. And can I just say, the simplistic lead guitar played throughout this song has cause me to believe that while he may not be fast and flashy like some players, Joey Santiago is a guitar god. He could beat his head on the guitar and produce SOMETHING that could be used for a song.

This is a pick from one of my favorite movies in the world! A little treat from the Rocky Horror Picture Show! Who can’t hear the Time Warp and not want to get up and do the little dance? I know I can’t! That could be from my slight obsession with the movie and my dream of performing the Magenta part one day though, who really knows! This is just a great movie with the perfect dance song for the inner transvestite in us all! The video contains all of the dance steps, so you too can be doing the Time Warp by the end of the night! That is my hope for the day anyways! There just aren’t many people that don’t know this song or where it comes from which makes it even better. Even if you hate this movie you can’t help but get this song stuck in your head for hours at a time! So go watch, learn a dance, dress in drag, make yourself the perfect man.. whatever! Just listen to the song!

Theres something about the sound of it that just sticks in your head and lives forever… Wheather you’re singing Tainted Love or I Ran or the song listed in this post… Theres just something that is missing from music today. Will we ever get it back? I hope not, cause I’d much rather people forget today’s music and remember the music of the 80′s… What was that? One more time? OKAY OKAY… Fine… *Ahem*

Now we come to the ultimate in soundtrack success! Whitney Houston’s cover of I Will Always Love You. Now, I know what you’re thinking, but I never said that every song was gonna be super fantastic! This just fits the whole soundtrack thing too well! Who wasn’t ready to puncture their eardrums with a rusty nail when The Bodygaurd came out? I can’t even try to calculate how many times I had to hear this god awful song in the nineties! This was Whitney at her best though. She sang the hell out of that song! Guess that was before the crack binges and her sweaty days of reality television. Good thing she is still living on the royalties of this song! With as many times as it was pumped into our poor, unwanting heads during it’s run I doubt she’d ever have the real need to work again. That is until she started using coke, because apparently crack is the poor man’s drug.

This is a great fucking song, I don’t care what my detractors may think. Hell I’m using one half of the screen to type this up while using the other half of the screen to watch the video… Such an awesome, dark song from a Disney movie…. Wait…. Wait a fucking second… GOOSESTEPPING HYENAS?!? ARE THOSE ACTUALLY NAZI GODDAMN HYENAS? IS SCAR HITLER? Whoa… Why don’t I remember that from the movie? I mean, you’d think Disney wouldn’t allow such a blatant refrence in a child movie…. Hold on a sec… Dispite my shock at the hitler refrence I’ve still gotta sing this part….

Either way, this is a great song from a great movie. This ranks just barely above the song Jafar sings in Aladdin just as he’s revealing to Jasmine that Prince Ali is really that begger douche from the streets (like she COULDN’T have noticed anyway, i mean what the hell?).

A Radiohead cover!! From me? No way! This is another fabulous song done incredibly well by the best band in the world! Radiohead are joined with Sparklehorse and cover this classic Pink Floyd song and play it wonderfully! Not really wanting to flirt too much with changing such an already bad ass song, these bands simply add a little of themselves and tweak it ever so slightly. Thom’s eerily haunting voice makes me secretly wish someone really was here with me. Mainly him, but that is a whole other list! Enjoy the loveliness!!

Mad World – Gary Jules

One of the best covers I’ve ever heard. I mean when you listen to this song, if you’re not in the know you would never guess that it’s a cover of a Tears for Fears song… the way Jules covers this song brings an inherant sadness into the song that I don’t really feel in the TFF version. This version has been featured on all kinds of movies and commercials, from Donnie Darko to a commercial for Gears of War. Which pretty much makes this song a bigger corporate whore than Madonna’s Ray of Light… Okay, maybe not that far… At least this song is good.
This song could have easily gone on the last list of “Songs to die for” but I chose not to for reasons completely beyond me. Either way, don’t listen to this song immediately following the last post or the sadness portion of your brain may kick into overdrive causing you to not only kill yourself, but do so without knowing. That’s right, the leading cause of death among listeners of music… Involountary Suicide. It happens… MIT did a study on it, I think. Or I’m just completely making it up. Ether way, give the song a listen and get lost in the subject matter. If you’re not back in 5 minutes I’ll assume it’s cause you’ve decided to stop listening and started playing Gears of War.

One of my favorite bands doing a song that I really had no idea even existed until it came out. This is their excellent take on Kate Bush’s 80′s pop version of the song. Can’t say I’m a big fan of the original, but that isn’t the point of the theme so screw it! Just a little too poppy and dance like for me and I left my AquaNet and spandex back in another era. Placebo take this song and make it sound like something they would have actually written and performed. I was actually shocked to learn this was a cover, it just sounds like a Placebo song! To me that makes it a fantastic cover!

Hey, lookie there… Another Deftones song. Since my commrade and partner in crime, Joint explained her love for Radiohead in the last post I’d like to take this time to explain my own weakness… Deftones. Greatest band ever, and they’ll pop up quite often, most likely. Here is their cover of the Sade tune No Ordinary Love. Not bad, really for a bad who made their mark on the music industry with albums like Adrenaline and Around the Fur, exploring the heavier side of their musical genre. Here the boys from SoCal show that even the toughest of metal musicians have a softer more soulful side. With the smooth bassline and the delay ridden guitars, this is a great song to drop your pants and do the nasty thing to… Until you listen to the lyrics and realize that whomever this song was written about is a total dick/bitch… Or maybe even a dickbitch. Either way, great song with a great groove. Put your shades on kids, cause this shit will make you see the LIGHT…
oh yeah and try to ignore the lame ass video that accompanies this song please, this was the best I could find on youtube.

Oh the song for the inner gangster in all you nerdy white boys!! This is just an awesome cover all around. Catchy and singable, it gets you smiling and bopping without even realizing you’re singing about inner city violence and woman abuse. It’s just flat out entertaining to get a whole bunch of people in a sing-a-long to this cover! I’m sure NWA had no idea this song could be so damn universal! As controversial as this song may be, on both accounts, it is still a great song and you gotta love a band that has those kind of balls!

Idioteque – Obediah Parker

Genius. Obediah Parker, a band which gained fame froma  youtube video of a folksy cover of Hey Ya by Outkast’s Andre 3000 preform this oft overlooked cover of the Radiohead tune Idioteque. If you’ve never heard a song that is nearly 100% electronic converted into an acoustic jam by a fuzzy man with a penchant for khaki shorts, then check this shit out, son! Not to mention, dude has PIPES. He can really sing! The true entertainment in the video however, comes from watching the mildly awkward bass player jerk about as if he were being attacked by angry bees throughout the song. In all seriousness though, just listen to this. It’s really great.

Another incredible cover by a pretty great band. The VH1 Rock Honors brought us this gift when they honored The Who. I’m only a modest Pearl Jam fan. I like some of their stuff and then I hate the rest. I am, however, a huge Eddie Vedder voice fan. He delivers a stellar performance of a song that deserves that kind of talent! I have a special place in my heart for the song after seeing the movie Reign On Me, a great movie that everyone should see! Now everytime I hear it not only do I feel the sadness of the song itself, I am also thinking of the movie and how that made me feel. Eddie has me in goosebumps with his almost dead on screaming rendition of this vintage favorite.

100% Brutal Melodic Face-Melting Fucking METAL! Yes! How can you argue with that statement? You can’t! Just look at the video! Knights and blacksmiths and turkey legs and chainmail! METAL! Killswitch Engage’s cover of the Dio classic captures the spirit of the original while managing to add a modern twist and a funny ass video. Howard rocks everything in this song/video! I enjoy the video almost as much as I enjoy oggling the drummers magnificently mantastic beard! HOLY DIVE-UH!!!!!!!!!!!!

One from my freaky high school locker! I was a huge fan of Marilyn Manson when I was younger and was so happy when this song came out and they blew up into fame! I had been listening to them for almost a year before this song came out so it was thrilling to see them get so big. A plain scary version of a Eurythmics hit, this song introduced the world to the most twisted, brilliant and daring artists we’d seen in years. I’m pretty sure my parents were confused and terrified when I started wearing their t-shirts and sporting black lipstick, but that was part of the point. They turn this song dark and heavy and give it more of a nightmare impression than any sweet dream I’ve ever had!

Top Ten Songs to Die For- This is our first theme so we wanted to go with something a little more serious and relatable. We all love songs that make us feel like shit. Why? We have no idea. Sometimes it just feels good to feel so bad, and know that other people might kind of understand. So, we’re going with songs that just make the tears flow or envoke that inner emo inside us all! Some can just kinda make you feel sad by reason of listening. Plus, we just think it’s funny to make people cry. Please enjoy our first theme!

Anytime I think of a song that can evoke any kind of real sadness and feeling in me I tend to turn to Blue October. They are an amazing band that doesn’t get enough credit! Of course, that is just my opinion, but my opinion is all that matters in this little experiment!! If you’ve ever been through a break up that just killed you and made you feel like the whole damn world was ending, you can usually find a song from them that relates perfectly! This is a solo song from Justin that I discovered. The first time I heard it I really did almost cry. You just don’t find that kind of honesty in music these days. So, whip out the Kleenex bitches! This one is great!!

Boys Don’t Cry – The Cure
This song was the perennial cry at home alone into your Robert Smith tapestry song. If you’re a male and you enjoy black fingernail polish and long cries then this is your song. Robert Smith of The Cure was the ultimate sensitive guy on the rock scene. He wasn’t afriad to admit that hiding behind his testicles (that still, many aren’t sure are existant) hides a huge bank of estrogen. And he managed to do so while writing nearly pop-like songs with an up tempo. This song will make you want to kill yourself WHILE dancing around your house not unlike Molly Ringwald in The Breakfast Club.

This is my emo shout out, which I imagine is more like a little girl with a scrapped knee. This song is just one of those songs that can make a motivational speaker want to plunge a dagger into their heart. I have drove around with friends listening to this and they actually got pissed later because I had depressed them. Gotta love forced misery!! I’m not a big fan of the whole emo scene or music in general, but this is a pretty decent song really. I discovered it on a mix CD my sister had and didn’t even know who the hell it was for months. Apparently I’m just too old to know everything that is going on in the world with depressed teens now days.. or it could be I just don’t give a shit!!! Prepare to feel like your puppy just got hit by a car!

18th Floor Balcony – Blue October
Ah yes, one of the best love songs on the earth! When a person is in love and listens to this song, it brings back all those feelings that one gets from laying next to the person they love and just soaking up all the great emotions that come with a moment like that. When you’re in love you can feel every single emotion on the face of the EARTH not to mention every emotion and every word contained in this song in a matter of seconds. It’s a great song to listen to when you’re madly in love and don’t want to forget that feeling.
Therein lies the problem. This song is the DEVIL for a person who’s lost that person they love so much. I’m serious, when a person who is no longer in that “mushy” state of mind hears this song, that person may actually picture this song itself (not the singer, or the person who they are in love with) wearing a red cape, horns protruding from it’s head, and holding a pitchfork. THE DEVIL. This song is great to listen to if you never want to forget how great the feeling is to be so in love… But when you’re trying to forget those feelings just wait until about halfway through the opening drone and try to not want to eat an entire box of broken glass! Just try it! Just plese don’t try it on web cam… That’s obnoxious.

So, with this being our first go I will warn you now: I am a huge Radiohead fan and I’m sure their work will show up in a lot of my posts. Just to warn you. This song has more of a personal meaning to me in terms of depressing and sad. It was one of those ex boyfriend songs but makes it so great. Just very ironic really. Great lyrics and a great studio version, which just goes to show why Radiohead is so damn great! (I warned you!!) Just can’t ignore the voice and beats of this one. The intro to the video is just great as well!!

Feel alone? Feel like nobody understands you yet everyone is watching as you break down? Feel like doing a ton of drugs and having gay sex with Kurt Cobain? Well so does Michael Stipe! Okay, that last thing is just a rumor… But still, if you don’t feel like someone hit you in the gut when this song concludes then maybe you should go to the doctor and see if you were born without a gut. Or maybe you got a gut reduction surgery… And if that’s the case, send me an e-mail and let me know the specifics of that procedure, cause i’d like to learn more.
Stipe’s whiny voice and even whinier lyrics in this song are nearly overshadowed by the music, which can only be described as the musical manifestation of being forced to skin a puppy alive in front of it’s owner. In other words, this song is kinda depressing, so you should listen to it? I guess? Just do it… And let me know what you thought of the song after you’re done screaming to the heavens to take you now.

This is my whiny but oh so great pick. Seriously, who hasn’t felt this way at some point in their lives? A little heavier which always makes me a little more pissed off so that makes it great to me! All around good song; good lyrics, good voice, great guitar. It’s top material because it is so universal and everyone can relate to it. Even if you’re an uptight asshole or vain bitch you’ve felt like this once, even if you won’t admit it.

Oh man. Ooooooh man… Have you ever loved someone only to find out that you maybe didn’t really know them like you thought you did? Ever love someone only to find out that they aren’t the person you thought they were? Ever love someone only to have them turn a complete 180 and insist that they are the same person when you know you’re simply the only person who can see a total turn in behavior and attitude? Well I certainly have… And that’s why this song makes me want to turn my own skin inside out and swim in a pool filled with salt and butterfly tears… I assume butterfly tears are really painfull inside a wound of some kind, and if not then hell have you ever seen a butterfly cry? Has anyone ever told you about how sad it is to see a butterfly CRY?!? No they haven’t cause the only people on Earth who have seen that sight promptly killed themselves… Probably while listening to this damn song.

Total Revenge: Say Anything
A little happier dose of misery. Great song for anyone that has had a breakup that they just can’t get over. That really shitty one that you can’t get out of your head even though you know you should! Sucks, but I know I’m not the only one!! Huge fan of this band. They have some really good lyrics and still manage to get you to bounce your head and sing along even if you feel like crying! There weren’t that many great videos, so I guess you can just learn the lyrics! They are good to know anyways!

This song is incredible on another plane as well… Have I ever felt bad while I was working at Taco Bell when a person would come in, order nothing, and tell me that I should quit because I’m horrible at what I do? No because it didn’t happen! So why the hell does it hurt so much when Morrissey, a self proclaimed asexual who holds to the fact that he finds neither men or women sexually attractive, tells me that I’ll never find love? Again, I point the finger to that fantastic head of hair… How could a man with a tuft of hair like that be wrong? He can’t!
